Having said that, I also got in to UCLA---a while back, it is true---with a GPA below 4.0 but above 3.0. How? No one ever spelled it out for me. But my application brimmed with sincere ardor and enthusiasm, and I poured my soul into the portfolio (and essay, too, for that matter). It is OK by me! I'm a M.Arch grad from 20 years ago, so nothing surprises me, even if I have doubts about architecture as undergrad major, but it sounds like they are doing it right---full exposure to lots of influences, not making narrow construction/technicians. :- ) Time rolls on.
